Join Alice for adventures in Lyndhurst Don’t be late for a date with Alice, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit this month when the first-ever Alice Adventure gets under way in the New Forest. The Alice Adventure festival is hosting a full programme of events based on Lewis Carroll’s well-loved tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The festival offers fun for all the family, with events ranging from a flower festival to a Mad Hatter fun run, croquet on the lawn and a White Rabbit treasure hunt on offer. Alice-themed activities will continue throughout the rest of the year – with walks, talks, parties and exhibitions, sports and shows. So join Alice and friends in Lyndhurst and enjoy an adventure of your own. The inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice was little Alice Liddell, who later became a celebrated Lyndhurst figure as Alice Hargreaves. Local residents and businesses are keen to promote the community spirit she held so dear while raising funds for local youth projects. The Alice Adventure 2009 has been launched in partnership with New Forest District Council and other local organisations. “I hope the festival will promote a sense of wellbeing and enhance the community spirit of Lyndhurst,” said parish council chairman Cllr George Bisson. David Atwill, NFDC’s head of corporate communications and marketing, said: ”This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate that we support the work of the local community and parish council. New Forest District Council is very proud to be celebrating the work of Lewis Carroll in such a creative way.” Full details of all the festival events can be found in the official programme, on sale from many local outlets.
