Sparkler
Take care when using sparklers

Did you know that a simple sparkler can burn up to a temperature of 2000 degrees centigrade? It’s a sobering thought when planning your Bonfire Night this year – especially if children are involved.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service urges us all to have fun but stay safe as the firework season draws closer.

Every year, people suffer firework and bonfire-related injuries – but by taking a few simple safety tips, many accidents can be avoided.

Steve Foye from Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: “Always treat fireworks with care and respect and take care when holding a bonfire event.
“We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Halloween and Bonfire Night celebrations. However, this is reliant on people being responsible when they are having fun. Remember, what may appear to be funny or harmless to one group could be distressing to someone on their own.”

Fire safety advice is free from Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service. If you would like any information, contact your local fire station or the Community Safety Team on
