Changes to bin collection days

Changes to refuse and recycling collection days have been rolled out across the New Forest as part of a major reorganisation of collection rounds.

Nearly half of the households in the New Forest now have a new collection day for their black and clear sacks and for almost everybody, the time that their refuse and recycling is picked up has changed. All residents have been asked to ensure that their refuse and recycling sacks are put out by 6am on the day of their collection, as the collection time may well be earlier than before.

The changes, which started on 4 October, are the result of a review of the efficiency of the refuse and recycling service provided by New Forest District Council.

The reorganisation means that the total number of rounds has been reduced, saving around £80,000 a year. This saving has been achieved while providing the same service to residents.

The council has no plans to make changes to the way it collects rubbish and recycling, and is committed to a weekly refuse collection and a weekly collection of recyclables, using the clear sacks.
