Village People

People have been getting involved in planning the future of their towns and villages through Parish Plans.  Milford-on-Sea is just one of the success stories.

The Milford-on-Sea villagers are at the vortex of the Parish Vision 2020 Action Plan – thanks to a two year campaign which took questions and comments to the heart of the community.

Now issues ranging from housing and tourism, to youth clubs and beat bobbies, are being driven by ordinary people.

Parish Vision 2020 Chair, Jenny Spencer, said:  “It’s been great getting people on board.  If villages are going to change, the people living there have to be a central part of the process.”

Part of that process involved gauging residents’ opinions through a ‘love it, hate it and wish it’ survey.  Milford residents revealed that they love the friendliness and unspoilt village green but hate village centre parking and derelict buildings.

Results of the survey have already caused change, including the provision of a new youth club.
